How it works
Miniature pressure sensors are piezoresistive pressure sensors, which utilize the piezoresistive effect to measure pressure. In this way, they detect pressure through a sensitive silicon diaphragm. When the silicon diaphragm is stretched or compressed, the piezoresistive effect causes a change in the silicon's resistance. This change in resistance is converted into an electrical signal, which is then amplified and converted into a standard output signal, such as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V.
Pressure transmitters are sensors that use additional electronics to compensate for linearity deviations and temperature errors, outputting measurement results as standardised signals. Every transmitter is measured over the entire pressure and temperature profile and compared to the desired signal span.
