How It Works

The magnetic level gauge operates on the principle of a connected container, ensuring the liquid level in the measuring chamber matches the container's level. A float containing a magnet sits within the measuring chamber. This magnetic float floats on the medium, causing a baffle on the indicating guide rail to rotate.

The float in the measuring tube is typically unpressurized and lacks magnetic or mechanical guidance. This design makes it safer than pressurized floats.

A float capable of floating on the medium can be selected based on the following process conditions:

Medium

Density

Operating Pressure

Temperature

Each baffle on the indicating guide rail is equipped with a permanent magnet, protecting the level gauge from shocks, vibrations, and high temperatures. Furthermore, humid and/or corrosive environments have no effect on the level gauge.

The magnetic level gauge can use plastic or stainless steel baffles. The baffles can be installed in plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel housings.

The double-sided design of the baffles-one white and the other red/orange-ensures the liquid level is clearly visible even from a distance or in low-light conditions.

The provided "pointer" allows you to set the level indication range on the guide rail as needed.

A signal is obtained when the magnetic level gauge is equipped with a magnetic switch. Using additional switches, pump control (pump on/off) and/or the creation of high/low level alarms can be achieved. In addition to level switches, a reed transmitter can be installed, with a standard output signal of 4-20 mA.

Magnetic level gauges are also suitable for interface reading. The float sinks in less dense media and floats on denser media.

Applications

Magnetic level gauges are widely used in various industries where accurate level measurement is crucial. Some notable applications include:

Oil and Gas Industry: In the oil and gas industry, magnetic level gauges are commonly used to monitor levels in storage tanks, separators, and pipelines. They can accurately measure the levels of crude oil, refined oil products, and various compounds.

Chemical Plants: Chemical plants utilize magnetic level gauges to monitor levels in reactors, distillation towers, and storage tanks. These gauges provide accurate measurements, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of chemical processes.

Power Plants: Power plants typically rely on magnetic level gauges to monitor water levels in boilers, condensers, and steam generators. Accurate water level measurement is essential for maintaining efficient energy production and preventing equipment damage.

Food and Beverage Manufacturing: Magnetic level gauges are widely used in the food and beverage industry to measure levels in storage tanks, mixing vessels, and fermentation tanks. The hygienic design of these gauges ensures the safety and quality of food and beverage production processes.
